Wind in the City

Top: Zara | Skirt: 424 Fifth (on sale!) | Clutch: Nine West | Jewelry: JCrew, JewelMint, Vince Camuto, House of Harlow 1960

Happy Monday! As you can probably tell from the photos, it has been one windy day. A perfect companion to help sooth the heat of summer but makes dressing a little inconvenient. Dresses and skirts are my go to look during the summer...simple to style, throw on and get out the door. So on days like today, I find the fuller midi skirt works best. Not worried about any Marilyn Monroe style  fly ups. :)

Adventure Stroll

Tank: F21 | Pants: Zara | Belt: Target | Sandals: Target (similar here) | Jewelry: Kendra Scott, Madewell, Dogeared | Clutch: Nine West

Too often I find myself confined to my own status quo. This weekend I desired a little adventure and decided to explore Adriatic. It is this neat little community that is being built that is supposedly a replica of a town in Croatia. Since I haven't been to Croatia, I cannot speak of the likeness, but it is truly an amazing space that will require repeat visits. Check out my instagram (abbycec) for some quick shots of the great architecture and design.

Reading Corner: Written in My Own Heart's Blood

Book: Written in My Own Heart's Blood
Author: Diana Gabaldon
Rating: 4 of 5

I have been eagerly waiting for the 8th installment of the Outlander series to be published, and it was almost kismet that it dropped the day before my birthday this year. This series is probably one of the most cherished group of books that I have read, and I recommend them to everyone. I actually stumbled across them while perusing Barnes and Noble years ago. While I was reading the synopsis of the first book, a random woman told me that it was an amazing book and that I wouldn't regret picking it up. She was right and it started a love affair with Diana Gabaldon and her illustrious cast of characters.

Essentially the story is about a woman named Claire who visits Scotland in the late 1940s while on her second honeymoon and happens to time travel to the 18th Century through some standing stones. There her life is irreversibly altered. I won't give all the juicy details away, but at its heart it is a love story with a mix of historical fiction. And as a bonus Starz has created it into a series that will premiere August 9th. I am beyond excited to see my favorite characters come to life.

The 8th installment is not my favorite of the group, but the 7th book ended with a such a cliffhanger that it was exciting to see what was next in their lives. Regardless, I still highly recommend you check it out! :)

Hawaiian State of Mind

Dress: Vintage DVF | Clutch: Nine West

Dreaming of far off places: beaches, cold fruity drinks, and lots of sunshine. More Hawaiian inspiration for today as we get set into summer and its best trend yet. What better way to feel like you're on vacation than by dressing the part. Only too soon will I have my feet in the sand. But until then this amazing dress will have to put me in that state of mind. Happy Thursday!

Mellow Yellow

Dress: Cynthia Steffe (options here, here and here) | Shoes: GoJane | Earrings: Kendra Scott

It is summer time and what better color to wear than YELLOW. This particular dress is an oldie but goodie. What I love about it is its neckline. Makes it easy to pick out a great set of earrings, bright lip and head out the door. No fuss! Since this is an older style, I listed some similar items that also would require no extra handling based on their exquisite design.

Casual Camo

Sweater: H&M (similar here, here and here) | Pants: Nordstrom (similar here) | Shoes: ShoeMint | Bag: Steven by Steve Madden | Jewelry: Vince Camuto, House of Harlow 1960

No thoughts for today. Just feeling a little blah and felt like my standard basics would have to do the trick today. And when in this mood, I always grab for big and comfy. Love over sized tees and sweaters. A little off-set of the crop top trend but still very relevant.

Kimono x 2

Outfit 1| Kimono: cameo & myth (similar here, here and here) | Tank: ASTR (similar here) | Shorts: F21 | Sandals: Target (similar here) | Necklace: House of Harlow 1960
Outfit 2| Kimono: cameo & myth | Swimsuit: Urban Outfitters (similar here) | Hat: JCrew | Sandals: Target

If you are looking for a light weight layering piece for the summer, look no further than the kimono. This is a top trend and can be transformed for several uses. Looks for today include casual and swim options for carefree styling. It's an easy piece to pack for beach vacations that won't take up precious space in your luggage. Endless uses!

Zara Sale

It is that favorite time of year...Zara sale! It started at midnight and there are lots of great steals to pick up. Check out some of my favorites.

Pops of Pink

Pops of Pink

Pink is not a color I usually gravitate to as it is not a shade that works with my skin tone. But I find myself ogling over this amazing neon pink shade. It all started with my sister showing me her new Kendra Scott neon pink tassel necklace. Since then, I can't get it off my mind. So today's inspiration spurns from that with amazing pops of pink! Do you dare?
