NYE: Lady in Red

Coat: Vintage | Dress: Banana Republic | Tights: DKNY | Heels: Sam & Libby | Clutch: Michael Kors | Jewelry: F21

Hope everyone has a safe and fun NYE! Ready to bring in the new year with a pop of red and this cozy coat. See you in 2014!

Sparkle

Lace Tee: F21 | Peplum Top: Tinley Road (old) | Pants: Wayf | Clutch: Michael Kors

NYE is literally a day away! Getting in the spirit with my favorite sequin pants. My husband thinks they are impractical because of the limited use, but I am determined to make them work for every occasion. Today is a little dressed up with lace and leather. How would you wear sequin pants?

Stripe Story

Sweater: BDG (old) | Jacket: Gap | Jeans: Gap | Boots: Sam Edelman

Stripes will always be a staple in my wardrobe. They go with everything, and apparently I feel the need to layer them as well. If you want to try layered stripes, go with different stripe widths so they play off each other.

Pieces of Me

Dress: Urban Outfitters (old) | Tee: Joe Fresh | Tights: Nordstrom | Boots: Steve Madden | Earrings: JCrew | Clutch: Michael Kors

Casual + glam = good times. I love mixing ideas together for a look that can be worn day to night. A few of these pieces were under the Christmas tree this year, so of course I needed to pull a look together to incorporate them all. :) Heels beware....will be living in these flat boots for the rest of winter!

Christmas Time

It is hard to believe how quickly Christmas comes and goes when we spend so much time preparing for one special day. This year I hosted Christmas, so our house was a bustle of small feet running around, a pack of dogs grazing for food, and a jolly time catching up with friends and family.
Christmas Eve started out with my sister and me entertaining the young ones by decorating a Gingerbread House. It was messy fun (the best kind)! Good thing we are not actual house contractors because our house collapsed pretty quickly...probably due to the weight of our icing roof. Oops!

Then on Christmas day we hosted a late lunch filled with great food, cocktails, and Christmas cheer! Couldn't have completed it all without the help of my wonderful parents who bring their expertise on food prep and cooking. Another year complete....ready to start planning for next Christmas. :)

Swagger Pants

Sweater: LOFT (old) | Jeans: Nasty Gal | Shoes: Sam & Libby | Bag: Steven by Steve Madden | Jewelry: JewelMint

It is holiday week, and for me that means comfort clothing. The boyfriend jean is my best friend when I need a little space for all the amazing food, sweets, and wine. They are great dressed up in heels if you want a little "swagger" or running around your house in house shoes. (as I tend to do on lazy Saturdays). Hope everyone has safe travels this week!

Reading Corner: The Storyteller

Book: The Storyteller
Author: Jodi Picoult
Rating: 5 out of 5

Jodi Picoult has created yet another amazing story that will break your heart. The Storyteller is about a woman who discovers one of her newest friends is actually a mass murderer. He was a SS officer in the Reich and has asked her to forgive his past transgressions. Not only has the woman grown up in a Jewish family, but her grandmother actually survived the Holocaust. This story has a different take on the transgressions committed during WWII, but it leaves you at the end with an incredible twist and with the question of who ultimately has the power to provide forgiveness.

Glitz & Glamour

Sweater: F21 (last seen here) | Skirt: Nasty Gal | Socks: Target | Shoes: Sam & Libby | Clutch: Aldo (old) | Jewelry: JewelMint

The holiday season always has a bit of glitz and glamour to it. Holiday parties fill your weekends during December, and it is all topped off with NYE. Sequins have been on my trend list as of late. I love the idea of adding a little slouch to the glam, so that is the look for today. It is a great mix to still keep warm but have that holiday sparkle.

Ruffle Details

Sweater: Target | Shirt: Gap (old) | Jeans: Gap | Boots: Target (old) | Bag: Philip Lim for Target | Jewelry: JewelMint

Woven shirts are one of the items that doesn't change that much year to year. Usually I buy based on pattern and color combinations, however, this shirt is all about the ruffle details. I love the ruffles on the cuffs and the front placket. Very unique and adds a lovely feminine feel.

Casual Suede

Suede Jacket: Vintage (from my Grandmother) | Sweater: F21 (old) | Jeans: Gap | Shoes: Target

The ice has finally melted! I love having a white Christmas, but ice is definitely not my cup of tea. Luckily I have some great vintage jackets passed down from my grandmothers to keep me warm. I love this suede version with the large lapels. It has a great 70s vibe and pairs well with any casual outfit.
