Floral Colorblock

Top: JCrew | Skirt: Nordstrom (old, similar here) | Shoes: ShoeMint | Jewelry: JewelMint

Happy Wednesday! Warmer weather = bright colors and leg baring skirts. I love the interesting color block of this tank from JCrew. The color combination is perfection! Check out their current sale to pick up some wear now/wear later pieces for a great price.

Pleated

Tee: Banana Republic (old) | Skirt: Madewell (old, similar option) | Shoes: Zara (similar here) | Bag: Michael Kors

Pleats are the next big trend for skirts. They're fun, flirty and easy to wear. I paired mine with a longer top for work, but on the weekends this high waisted skirt would be great with a crop top too. Start scoping out options to add to your closet.

Summer Cool

Summer Cool

Just a few things I am obsessed with right now...
- Jumpsuits/Rompers - white is a clean and crisp update for the summer. The little number featured above will be in my wardrobe soon. Can't wait!
- Sophia Webster for JCrew - The most amazing shoe designer. I love all the quirky and imaginative options.
- Pink Lips - I like the clean, subtle look a pink lip provides. I'm sure I'll do some throwbacks to bright lips this summer, but my day to day look will definitely be pink.
- Bags with a message - Another quirky and fun item. Kate Spade has been creating some amazing options recently and this Moschino piece is just too cool. I'm thinking a little DIY is in my future.

Sheer Maxi

Dress: F21 (old, similar here and here) | Sandals: Target (old, great option here) | Bag: Urban Outfitters (old, similar here)

Wearing sheer pieces has been a growing trend the past few seasons. I picked up this dress about 2 years ago and it has been a great piece to have during the summer. The color is bright and fun, and there is tons of peek-a-boo action going on. At least the trend is a little more commonplace so I don't get all the crazy stares. :) Happy Saturday!

Indigo

Tee: Gap | Shorts: Gap | Shoes: Nine West (old) | Bag: Michael Kors | Jewelry: JewelMint, Madewell

Just a basic Friday. Obsessed with these floral chambray shorts from Gap...perfect pairing for summer.

Back to Black

Top: Madewell | Pants: Banana Republic | Shoes: Steve Madden | Jewelry: JCrew, Madewell, Kenneth Cole watch

Texture

Tank: JCrew | Jeans: Gap | Shoes: Steve Madden (old) | Jewelry: JewelMint, Michael Kors watch

If you are going solid, it is all about the texture to add interest. It is hard to see on this top, but it has a great pattern on the front panel that makes it more than just a basic tank. Texture will add that extra pop to any outfit.

Basics

Tee: Nordstrom | Jacket: Arden B (old, similar here) | Skirt: 424 Fifth | Shoes: Target (old) | Jewelry: Michael Kors watch, JewelMint

As you have probably noticed, black and white combos have been my recent go-to look. It is such an easy combination for all hours of the day. I'm loving this skirt from 424 Fifth with the tweed fabric and black piping details. The high/low hem is just an added design bonus that sets this pencil skirt apart from others in the marketplace. If you are lost and don't know what to wear (it happens) go for black and white basics and you can't miss.

Tribal

Top: American Eagle Outfitters (old) | Shorts: Free People (similar here) | Bag: Urban Outfitters (old, similar here and here) | Jewelry: Madewell, Banana Republic

I officially do not think sunscreen sprays work. I felt like I coated it on yesterday, and I'm left with my first unwanted sunburn of the season. So today I am thankful for loose, flowy tops! :)

Regardless of the burn, yesterday was a fun day exploring nature. My husband found another nature park off the lake that we were able to walk the trails and let the dogs take a quick dip. It is great to be able to carve out a little family time amongst a sometimes busy and exhausting week.

Lace Up

Dress: Free People (similar here and here) | Shoes: GoJane | Necklace: Target | Bag: Brighton Collectibles

Happy Friday! I am so excited for the weekend to start, and it is supposed to be a beautiful one. Nothing kicks off great weather like a great dress. I am obsessed with this Free People find at Nordstrom Rack. Slouchy and comfortable with a little peek-a-boo edge on the sides with lace ups. I think it will be one of those pieces that I can make work for all occasions; running errands during the day with flats, add some heels for a night out look, and it even would be an interesting swimsuit cover up.

Beach Ready

Beach Ready

Beach season is just around the corner. Though it is hard to get prepped when the weather keeps jumping back and forth, I pulled together some inspiration thought starters.

1. Swim Silhouette: There are so many great silhouette options this season to find the perfect swimsuit for your shape. I personally have a suit in each of these options to change it up day to day. :)
 - The one piece is back, and it is not your grandmother's swimsuit. Don't be afraid of it! The marketplace has tons of great options with incredible prints and cut-outs in the right places.
 - If you don't want to go full body, but still want some coverage...go retro. A high waisted two piece could be just the thing for you. It is a little exotic but can be very sexy.
 - And of course there is the standard two piece. I love all the new combinations this season with bold prints, cut-outs, and surf inspiration.
2. Cover-up is Key: It is important to find the perfect cover-up option that can take you not only to the beach but to the snow cone shop as well. Find a dress-like option that gives you coverage but is still light and airy.
3. Accessorize:
 - Hats are on trend this year...panama, floppy, baseball. You really can't go wrong, and it keeps your skin protected from the sun.
 - Try fun and flirty sunglasses in any shade combo.
 - Like your cover-up, have options in shoes that can transform for any occasion. Printed flip-flops are great for day, but sometimes you need a wedge for that poolside party.
 - And last but not least, find the ultimate bag to carry everything in. I think all the kitchy tote bags are fun for the summer season.
