Play Dress

Jacket: Gap | Dress: Express | Tights: DKNY | Boots: Steve Madden | Clutch: Michael Kors | Jewelry: JewelMint

I love pieces that are easy to wear and mix with. This jacket is a new find from Gap that I bought on clearance. I have been wanting a red jacket and have high hopes for it being a versatile piece. Secondly, the boots. I said here that my heels should beware the boots, and I can't stop finding new ways to wear them. I actually like the way they play down a dress but still make it chic.

This & That

Jacket: F21 (old, similar here or here) | Tank: Target | Jeans: Nasty Gal | Heels: Shoe Cult | Jewelry: JCrew | Clutch: Michael Kors

Oh the color black...always an easy choice for head-to-toe looks. Weirdly enough I have had this jacket for a few years now, and suddenly sequins are the thing. Number one reason why nothing gets thrown away in my closet unless it is falling apart. I'm a hoarder at heart. (and I love shiny things) :)

Color block Orange

Sweater: The Limited (old) | Skirt: Gap (old) | Jacket: I Heart Ronson (similar here) | Tights: DKNY | Boots: Steve Madden | Jewelry: Madewell

Color block central here mixing basics with a bright reddish orange hue. This is a great color that transitions well from fall into spring. I just love the way it pops. Also, this outfit combination was discovered by cleaning out my closet. Amazing what you can find when everything is in its place. It is not always necessary to have new things to create a new look. :)

Leather Shortie

Coat: Gap (old) | Top: I Heart Ronson (old) | Shorts: F21 (similar here) | Tights: DKNY | Boots: Steve Madden

It might be cold outside, but leather shorts are a staple year round. Just throw some tights underneath and you are good to go! Plus, you don't have to spend a ton to get the look. Forever 21 has great options that won't empty out your bank account. I love this version from them with the quilted sides. Adds just a little flavor to a basic look.

Resolutions: To the Barre!

It is that time again to make resolutions for the new year. Working out is always a top pick for most people, so I thought I would share today one of my favorite workout programs; BARRE! If you are a dancer or just want to have a dancer's body, then you definitely need to check this out. Barre mixes basic ballet movements with some weight and stretching techniques. You don't have to have a dance background to enjoy it, and it makes you feel fantastic afterwards. My favorite weekly haunts include Flybarre and Pure Barre. Both are excellent programs, and they have studios around the country. Check them out!

New Year's

Top: ASTR | Skirt: Nasty Gal | Tights: DKNY | Heels: Sam & Libby | Jewelry: JCrew

NYE was spent at home this year with my little family of four. My husband had his second surgery last week to repair a baseball injury, so he is not up and walking quite yet. (Explains the awkward scooter device in the background.) Not an ideal situation for a night known for crowds, so we made a go of it at home, dressed up in our party hats. It was a perfect way to ring in the new year. Follow me on instagram to see more pictures at abbycec. Hope everyone had a safe and memorable night!
