Retro Cool

Sunflower

The wide leg pant is a perfect refresher to your wardrobe this season. The skinny pant has been the top silhouette for the past few years, but we are on the emergence of change. I love the retro vibe and comfort of a wider leg. It is my inspiration today with a little pattern mixing, fun gold jewelry, and funky accessories. How would you wear a wide leg pant?

Statement Necklaces

Top: JCrew (old) | Jeans: Target | Heels: Zara (old) | Necklace: Baublebar | Clutch: Nine West

The statement necklace is an important piece for the season, and the retailer doing it best is Baublebar. They have a great collection of pieces to pick from in various shades and materials.

Closet Secrets

Linen Top: Zara | Jeans: A&F (old) | Belt: Michael Kors | Earrings: Kendra Scott

I'm not sure the slouchy jean works for my body type, but I love how comfortable and easy they feel. This is an extremely old pair (circa 12 years ago) that I have kept in my closet as my dirty little secret. I love that they are too big, are roughed up with holes and have flare. A close cousin to the boyfriend jean of today.

Sequins

Top: Zara | Skort: Sophie Rue (similar here) | Heels: Zara (old, similar here) | Earrings: Kendra Scott | Clutch: Nine West (old)

Sequins have the reputation for being a night out only option, but I think that it can still be appropriate for day in the right combo. This simple, blush tank easily works in the day time because the sequins and silhouette or subtle. A great pairing for day to night looks.

Reading Corner: Uganda Be Kidding Me

Book: Uganda Be Kidding Me
Author: Chelsea Handler
Rating: 5 out of 5

If you have never read a Chelsea Handler book, you are absolutely missing out. My suggestion...start with the first book and read through to her most recent. Each will have you laughing out loud and potentially receiving awkward looks from others. I loved this latest installment of the craziness that is Chelsea Handler. She is the best narrator for her life and has the most amazing/outrageous adventures. She will make you laugh, cry (from laughing so hard), and maybe make you pee your pants. It is that funny. A perfect read for lounging around this summer. Definitely check it out!

Sunday Sandals

Top: Pins & Needles | Skort: Zara (similar here) | Shoes: SoftMoc | Bag: Michael Kors | Bracelet: JCrew

Birkenstock style sandals are back on trend. (It is only natural that they resurface with overalls.) Not necessarily the most sleek sandal but very comfortable. I've been wearing this version non-stop; trying out different outfit pairings to see how far I can take them. Casual weekend (check), work outfit (check), date night (TBD).

Sunny Saturday

Tank: Nordstrom | Skirt: 424 Fifth | Shoes: ShoeMint | Jewelry: JewelMint, Kenneth Cole watch

Happy Saturday! Full of color today and ready to start the weekend off right. Warmer weather = crop top season. This trend is sticking around for awhile so don't be scared of it. You can pair it with high waist skirts and shorts to keep the midriff baring minimal.

Painted Red

Vest: 424 Fifth | Pants: Zara (old, similar here) | Jewelry: JCrew | Bag: Steven by Steve Madden | Shoes: Target

There is something about a soft pant; highly popular at the moment and incredibly comfortable. It is like an acceptable pajama pant for day time. :) This number I am wearing is from a past season, but there are a lot of great options in different silhouettes. Zara probably does it best with their print options. Check out some of my favorites from them.

Soft Peplum

Top: ASTR (old, similar here) | Skirt: Anthropologie | Shoes: Zara | Clutch: Nine West | Jewelry: Vince Camuto, Nordstrom

It is already a long week and we are only half way there. When I am not feeling my best, I try to step it up a notch in the outfit department. My work is pretty lax on the wardrobe regulations, but it makes me feel more inspired with the right outfit. If I look put together...maybe I will feel that way. (maybe)
I love this soft peplum skirt...a clearance find from Anthropologie. Timeless and fun!
