Eyelash

Sweater: F21 | Faux Leather Skirt: F21 (old, similar here) | Boots: Baker (old)

Top sweater trend for the season is the eyelash or shag sweater. The hair coming off of the sweater gives a great 3D effect, plus the plush yarns make it incredibly soft. It reminds me a little of the 90s with the cropped shag sweaters in pastel shades. Love it and glad it has come back for a visit. Don't waste your money spending $80+ at department stores. Forever 21 has a plethora of options in different shades, patterns, silhouettes. Definitely a great item to pick up for holiday gifting!

Christmas Red

Sweater: Banana Republic | Pants: Banana Republic | Shoes: Taunt (old) | Jewelry: F21

Best part of the holiday season is enjoying the amazing weather while spending time with your family. It is a treat for my dogs to run around in the front yard, so along with their homemade dog biscuits we let them play in the "leaves". Always a joy to watch them goof around. Aren't they gorgeous! Supermodel dogs in the making.

DIY: Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Happy Thanksgiving! In honor of the holiday, it is only right that I post about food. It has become a family tradition for my husband and me to make iced pumpkin cookies each year for the Thanksgiving holiday. We stumbled upon this recipe online one year and it has stuck as a must have dessert. Check it out!

Ingredients:

2 1/2 Cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
2 tsps ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 cup canned pumpkin puree
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract

Frosting:
2 cups confectioner's sugar
3 tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 tsp vanilla extract

1. preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, ground cloves, salt.
2. in a medium bowl, cream together butter and white sugar. Add pumpkin, egg, and vanilla to butter mixture. Beat until creamy. Mix in dry ingredients.
3. drop on cookie sheet; flatten slightly
4. bake for 15-20 minutes. Cool cookies, then drizzle icing with a fork
5. To make glaze: combine confectioner's sugar, milk, melted butter, tsp vanilla. Add milk as needed to achieve drizzling consistency.

Always have to post a picture of the dogs. They circle the kitchen like sharks whenever anything is being cooked. But don't worry, they will have their own "pumpkin" treat for the holidays. Along with the pumpkin cookies, I have pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie and homemade pumpkin dog treats on the list for baking this week. Love the holiday season!

Layers of (faux) Fur

Faux Fur Vest: Nicole by Nicole Miller | Tee: Joe Fresh | Corduroys: Joe Fresh | Shoes: Target (old) | Jewelry: JCrew, Michael Kors watch

Thanksgiving is finally upon us and the shopping craze begins. No better way to attack the mobs then by wearing casual, comfortable layers. My go-to layer for the season...faux fur. So easy to wear and adds magic to any outfit. If you are looking for an option with great value for the price, check out this version at jcpenney. I couldn't believe how much I actually paid for it with sale + coupons. Major steal!

Reading Corner: The Cuckoo's Calling

Book: The Cuckoo's Calling
Author: Robert Galbraith
Rating: 3 out of 5

Alright all you lucky, closeted Harry Potter fans; don't be fooled. The Cuckoo's Calling is actually written by none other than J.K. Rowling. Something I didn't learn until I read the "About the Author" page at the end of the book. I know her introduction into the adult novel realm wasn't extraordinary with The Casual Vacancy. However, her second try with this book definitely hit the spot. The Cuckoo's Calling is a murder mystery where a struggling private detective has been hired to find the murderer of a high profile model whose tragic death was labeled a suicide. Lots of twists and turns, and the resolution was definitely a surprise. If you are traveling this holiday season and need a simple, no fuss book to read...check this one out.

Warm Fuzzies

Jacket: Target (old) | Sweater: Gap (old) | Faux Leather Leggings: Express | Shoes: Target | Bag: Steven by Steve Madden | Jewelry: JewelMint

Cold weather has finally kicked in and I am so glad to have this plush leopard jacket on hand to keep me warm. Anything plush/furry/fuzzy is on my must-have list for the season. I little Cruella De Vil of me, but there is just nothing better than feeling warm and cozy in the winter.

Clean & Simple

Top: ASTR | Jacket: Leith | Jeans: Paige Denim | Booties: Promise | Jewelry: JCrew

Sometimes it is just nice going with a simple outfit choice. I love a cream blouse with extra details like lace inserts, colorful trim or interesting silhouette. It is clean and easy to wear; plus minimal effort to look put together.

Dark Plaid

Sweater: Loft (old) | Pants: Zara | Shoes: Nine West (old) | Bag: Steven by Steven Madden | Jewelry: JCrew

Plaid never really goes out of style, but it is definitely on the upswing this season. Plaid head to toe is no longer taboo, and I love the way it looks. For those not so daring, try something simple with a subdued plaid pattern in a pant or woven shirt.

Lazy Saturday

Sweater Cardigan: Frenchi | Jeans: Allen B | Tee: Nordstrom | Shoes: Ralph Lauren | Jewelry: Madewell

I just got back from a trip overseas, and I was definitely due for a lazy Saturday. Nothing more relaxing than a big comfy sweater, a good book, and play time with my favorite duo. Next up...Mexican food. Yum!
