Cropped

Top: Express | Shorts: F21 | Jewelry: Zara, Madewell | Shoes: Target | Bag: Steven by Steve Madden

Ahhhh...summer is finally here and I'm ready to try out all the fun trends going on right now. Starting with crop tops. I started wearing versions of these two summers ago, but the trend has grown and transformed. There are a lot of fun and daring options similar to this top I bought at Express. Crop tops go perfectly with high waisted bottoms if you still want to cover up that midriff. Or if you want to be a little bit more forward, you can always pair with the overalls for down-home look or pencil skirts to dress it up. I will be testing it all out this season.

Casual Suit

Blazer: Diane von Furstenberg | Tee: Nordstrom | Trousers: Joe Fresh | Jewelry: JewelMint, F21, Michael Kors watch | Bag: Steven by Steve Madden

Who says dressing up has to be boring. I love the idea of a casual suit, and mixing different parts of your wardrobe to create this look. Start with the basics and work from there. Here I started with a basic white tee and classic navy blazer...two items everyone should have in their closet. And then gave a little twist with these great silk printed trouser pants. Shop your own closet to see what you can re-create.

Dressed-up Shorts

Shorts season is finally here! Try out a dressy pair for a fun afternoon/evening with the girls. It is a great way to update this season. :)

The Stripe

Jacket: Gap | Tee: Gap | Jeans: Gap | Shoes: Prabal Gurung for Target

Stripes continue to be everywhere this spring/summer season. And of course with my current jacket obsession, I picked up this fabulous piece that has so many possibilities for styling. Any lady-like blazer can go with pants, skirts, and shorts depending on your event. And the great thing about buying it in a stripe is that it gives opportunity to do some pattern mixing as well. Can't wait to see what I can come up with!

Sweatshirt

Sweatshirt: Zara | Coated Jeans: Express

The weather this spring has been extraordinarily crazy. One day it is 50 degrees, the next day it is 80 degrees. My closet doesn't know how to keep up. One great trend for the season is a dressed up sweatshirt. This item is a great way to keep warm and cozy but still look put together. It can also be worn with pants or shorts. This sweatshirt is one of my favorites, however, it is more sporty with the arm stripes. See below for some of my other favorites that can go from work to play.

Floral 2.0

Jacket: Zara | Tank: BDG | Jeans: Gap | Shoes: Payless | Jewelry: Madewell, JewelMint | Bag: Steven by Steve Madden

Another great floral piece but with subdued colors and design. What I love most about this jacket is that it is quilted and feels like I am wearing a cozy blanket. Just another great layering jacket that is part of my coat craze this season. It is a good idea to have a few of these layering pieces in your wardrobe that can play back to basics and dress them up a little for everyday wear.

Hawaiian

Linen Tee: Zara | Trousers: JCrew | Shoes: Prabal Gurung for Target | Jewelry: Madewell, JewelMint | Bag: Steven by Steve Madden

Bright florals are a great way to spice up your wardrobe this spring. There is a lot of inspiration out in the marketplace from oriental to Hawaiian. I particularly gravitate to the Hawaiian with all the kitschy prints and bright colors. WhoWhatWear did a great Hawaiian inspiration piece a few weeks ago, so I am excited that I am not the only one seeing this as a trend worth wearing.
