Happy Halloween

I love Halloween....the dressing up, the candy, the spookiness of it all. It is great fun! One of my good friends graciously hosts a themed party every year and always does an amazing job. Her house decorations are envious...both inside and out.
This year's theme was "The Movies", so we all dressed up as movie characters. I love coming up with interesting costume ideas that I can create on my own. My costume was Sarah from The Labyrinth. I'm constantly being told that I look like Jennifer Connelly, so I thought this was a great costume to create. What do you think? Hope everyone has a safe and spooky Halloween!!!

Black & Blue

Chambray Shirt: BDG | Tee: The Limited | Skirt: Loft | Shoes: Dolce Vita (old, similar here)

Black and Navy are two of my favorite basic colors for fall...and I love the way they look mixed together. Today I pulled together another layered outfit...mixing dressed up with casual. Love the way it turned out.

Winter Layers

Sweater: Loft | Skirt: Gap | Jacket: Gap | Necklace: Nordstrom (similar here) | Shoes: Steve Madden

Winter is finally here and that means sweaters, tights, and layers. All of my favorite things!

Dress Up

I love days where it doesn't take much to have fun. We walked the mall for a bit today...checking out the scene and doing some great people watching. While perusing, we came across these fun accessories. We thought it was only fitting to play a little dress up since it is so close to Halloween. Everyone, including the dogs, got a great kick out of my husband's faux mustache. A must-have accessory! :) Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

chunky sweater

Sweater: Gap | Jeans: Gap (old, similar here) | Boots: Target (old, similar here)

It is finally cold enough to break out the sweaters! I got this little number at Gap...love the bright color...and the chunky turtleneck. It has such great styling potential and will definitely be one of my favorite sweaters for the season.

Moto Jacket

Jacket: Gap (also similar here) | Shirt: JCP | Jeans: Express | Shoes: Sam Edelman (old, similar here and here) | Jewelry: JewelMint and Michael Kors watch

I love when it finally gets cold and I can start playing with jackets. This is a new jacket I purchased with my Gap gift card (thanks WhoWhatWear). It is incredibly soft and comfortable...and the perfect silhouette for fall. Moto jackets are one of the top jacket trends of the season and can be found in different fabrications from knit to leather. What do you think?

For the boys

Denim Shirt: Article 365 (old, similar here) | Corduroy Pants: JCrew | Chukka Boots: Clarks

For once I turned the camera around on my husband. He works from home, so it is unusual for him to put an outfit together on a day-to-day basis. Love his look!
Corduroy pants are a great fall item for men to have. It is slightly elevated to denim and still can be casual. Denim tops were a taboo item around our house for awhile, but we slowly worked to incorporate this into his wardrobe. It is a wonderful compliment to corduroy bottoms and is great for layering. In regards to winter shoe wear, the chukka boot is the ideal candidate. They are comfortable and stylish, which I'm sure any man can appreciate. This season the market has a lot of different representations of the chukka boot. Go check them out and get your men out of tennis shoes and flip-flops. :)

Workin It

Shirt: Gap | Skirt: JCrew (old, similar here) | Shoes: Steve Madden (old) | Watch: Michael Kors (gifted)

Another lovely Monday has come and gone. Even though my office has moved to casual days everyday, I still like to dress up. I just feel more put together and ready to tackle the day when I have put effort into how I dress in the morning. Pencil skirts are my go-to look when I want to look professional. Solid skirts are definitely easy and should be apart of your assortment, but a great print can make any outfit look personalized and special. When wearing a print, I usually try to spice it up a bit and go with a more daring look. Today I stuck with the true preppy look by pairing my skirt with an oxford shirt. Oxford shirts are a great staple to have in your wardrobe. I got this cozy one at Gap and love the added details with the polka dots. It's interesting but not over the top.

State Fair

Sweater: Coincidence & Chance | Tank: Silence & Noise | Shorts: Target | Wedge Sneakers: Target | Fringe Purse: Ecote

This weekend was the final weekend of the Texas State Fair. My parents have never been, so they came up for the weekend and we spent the day perusing through the many exhibits, games, and food stands. Chevrolet had a drive course set up, so we were able to test drive some of their vehicles. Of course my husband wanted to get into a Camarro.
Unfortunately Big Tex caught on fire last night, so we had to settle on taking pictures with his miniature wood-carving in the greenhouse exhibit.
We spent a lot of time playing games so my parents could win this amazing Scooby Doo toy for their grand-kids....I tried to steal him for myself. :) Overall it was a beautiful day to be outside, and we had tons of fun together. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

Navy

Dress: Love YaYa | Shirt: Zara | Belt: JCrew | Necklace: Zara (old, similar here) | Shoes: Nine West (old, similar here)

Navy is one of my favorite colors. The deep tone goes great with everything and is the perfect fall basic. I'm really trying to re-imagine my wardrobe by mixing and matching different elements. Typically I wear this dress with a cardigan or blazer, but today I thought I would mix it up by layering underneath with a classic stripe tee. It adds a nice element and allows the dress to be the main focus.

Today I received an email about the WhoWhatWear/Gap contest that I participated in. Check out all the winners, including myself, on their blog site. So excited!
